156

A Brief Qabalistic Review

by G.M.Kelly

Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the Law.

156 is the number of Babalon, the Great Whore, the Scarlet Woman who is the companion to the Great Beast 666.  [See also 667 briefly discussed in TNN IV.5 and elsewhere on this web site.]  There are other words and names which come to the numeration of 156 that may be of significance and without overburdening this review, these are simply listed below for your personal reflections.

Babalon in Greek as well as BABALON in Hebrew.

       7+7
77 +  7  + 77  [i.e. 77 + 2 (14, 7+7, divided by 7) + 77] the Seal of Babalon and the A.·.A.·.

andra -or- aner:  "man" [referring more to polarity than sex?]

meira:  "the belly, stomach".

eikona:  "a figure, icon; phantom, wraith; likeness, a semblance, image", to be found in the New Testament of the Judeo-Christian Bible [Col. 3.11; Re. 13.14, 11] in reference to "the image of the Beast".

Marie:  "Marie or Mary" [found in A.C.'s notes].

arne:  "a lamb" [which lies beside the lion or beast].

Arne:  "daughter of Aeolus; to be with her, Poseidon changed himself into a bull [i.e. a beast]".

Raziel:  meaning "Secret of God"; "angel of the secret regions and chief of the Supreme Mysteries; associated with Chokmah".

KOVS:  "Chaos" [in Hebrew characters; found in A.C.'s notes on the Greek Qabalah].

Azriel:  "an angel of the Earth; also called a chief angel of destruction [transformation?]".

52 x 3 being 156 weeks or 3 years, being the period of time it apparently takes the Magister Templi 8°=3° to mature in the womb of Nuit to become a full "member" of the A.·.A.·. - 3 being the number of Binah, the Great Mother, the Great Sea, the Sphere of Saturn, the Sephira to which the Master of the Temple grade is attributed.

It is interesting to note that 1 + 5 + 6 = 12 and that 1 + 2 = 3.

The mysteries of Babalon are barely revealed here, but in the future we will go deeper into these and other numerical mysteries.
