ShNI AShH [Hebrew] = 666, means "Scarlet Woman". This could also be spelled thusly: HShNI AShA = 667, meaning "The Scarlet Woman", sharing the same numeration as its Greek equivalent, H KOKKINH GYNH!
ASTHR ARGOS [Aster Argos] = 983 has been called a corrupt Graeco-Coptic form of Argenteum Astrum by one implying that Our Father the Beast 666 had made a mistake and so implied that he, the critic, is much more intelligent and knowledgeable, for it was he that discovered the "mistake". He should have known better and not have listened to his inflated ego. Aleister Crowley was perfectly aware that ASTHR ARGOS was "corrupt", meaning literally, "shining, bright, or glistening star", and at least one of his reasons for translating Argenteum Astrum [Silver Star] in this manner is obvious - to achieve the numeration of 983 which is the numeration of GNOSIS, Gnosis.
Let it be a warning to all of those who would criticize the Beast 666 again. He was only human and he did occasionally make mistakes, but they were very few and far between, for all that he did he did for good reason.
EDITOR'S NOTE: Remember here that a capital Eta is represented by an H, Eta being the long-E sound in Greek. In writing Aster Argos in upper case Greek, by the way, A.C. often used the older form of Sigma which looks like an English C.

To observing eyes I would have appeared to have been lying quietly in my bed, but in the stygian darkness behind my closed eyes I called out to the Masters: "Come unto me. Give unto me some sign of thy trust in me; thy oneness with me." I viewed myself in the Astral Light banishing all impure elements and formulating that which is most appropriate. I performed the Invocation of the Augoedies in those astral spaces, casually, almost nonchalantly. Soon after the completion of this great invocation, I leaped from my bed and jotted down some spellings of the name of the Angel known as Aiwass [alternate spelling: Aiwaz]. It was not until awakening, later that morning, that the full importance of those jottings came to my mind.

Also the nature of all Gods and their prophets should be clearer in the mind of the sincere student, and the proof of the validity of Crowley's claim that Aiwass was a being of greater knowledge than he himself possessed is thus further established.
