Liber Rationis

sub figura MCDXCVIII

by G.M.Kelly

Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the Law.

"I am becoming gradually more inclined to look for Greek Qabalah as a Key to this Book."
-From Aleister Crowley's commentary to CCXX I.25 as published in the Magical and Philosophical Commentaries on the Book of the Law, 93 Publishing, 1974 E.V.

As the title of this Book of Considerations and Calculations impies, it is "a reckoning, account, consideration, calculation."  Its number is 1498 because this is the numeration of the Greek word ypolepsis, meaning "a taking or catching up a word, a rejoinder, reply, a taking in a certain sense, an understanding; opinion."  1498 is also the numeration of phaesimbrotos, "bringing light to mortals."

Liber Rationis is not intended to invalidate or replace any commentaries written by To Mega Therion, but only, perhaps, to add to these certain considerations based upon calculations employing the Greek Qabalah and by this method express an opinion or Point of View.

Gematria Key for
Greek and Hebrew

NOTE:  above, the Long-E and the Long-O sounds of Greek, i.e. Eta and Omega, are represented by an italicized e and o respectively.  Upsilon is represented by an English "y" although a "u" may at times be more appropriate.  For instance, "to pneyma kai e nymphe" above is more properly spelled in English "to pneuma kai e nymphe".  And finally, Digamma is represented above by the English letter "f" solely because of its resemblence to that letter.
